Welcome to RamonaPringle.com

I'm a digital producer, interactive video artist, and host/actor.

More than anything, I am a storyteller. I'm always looking for new ways to tell stories, to engage audiences in meaningful ways, and to make people feel. I'm also fascinated by the digital world, and the ethics and possibilities involved in living in the digital age, and forging our way into a future that we want to be a part of. I run a boutique production company specializing in digital and multiplatform content. A lot of what we do is documentary based – I love when truth really is more incredible than fiction. I'm a faculty member at the RTA School of Media at Ryerson University in Toronto, and I teach digital media and interactive storytelling in the New Media department.

Some of my current projects include Rdigitalife.com, which explores the evolving relationship between people and technology, and an interactive documentary project called Avatar Secrets based on my experiences in online worlds, and the stories I’ve collected from others along the way, which has been featured in the New York Times, and presented at events including SXSW, TEDx and Ignite.

I’ve produced and developed work for CBC, CTV and TVO and as Interactive Media Producer for PBS FRONTLINE’s Digital Nation I developed their participatory interactive media including “Your Stories,” a portal for user-generated content, featuring stories from real people across North America.

As a video artist, my work is driven by a fascination with the intersecting roles of director-actor-player and voyeur, as we explore the use of new platforms and the integration of interactivity into the cinematic or narrative experience. I continue to expand on the work originated in master’s thesis Paranoia, which explores emotional perception in the interactive cinematic experience. Recently, I developed Rdigitalive, a live documentary remix, premiered during Nuit Blanche 2012, whereby live audience feedback drives the narrative progression of the documentary. Working with the PeakMedia Collective I’ve produced installations that have been exhibited at the New York Hall of Science, Sherway Gardens in Toronto and Casino Niagara, in Niagara Falls.

I started my career as actress in film and television… some of my favorite roles include Shoot ‘Em Up and Model Behavior, and a campaign for Ricola that started it all. I hosted CBC’s pop culture show The X.

New for 2013 I’m looking forward to returning to Idea City this June to once again host their web cast – which is always a wonderful opportunity to talk to people doing interesting, exciting things! I’ll also be speaking at NXNE Interactive in Toronto (June) and the World Future Society’s Conference in Chicago (July).

I have a Masters Degree from NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program and a BFA in Film & Video from York University.
